Sweet Ellie came in to my studio for her newborn photography session with her parents, Jessica and Nick. They are busy to say the least!  Two toddlers already and both working full time…geesh!  They both wanted a warm and serene feel for their newborn photos so we did a mix of both posed and lifestyle photography.  And being that they love to create wall galleries for their photos (my favorite type of client ) 😉 , they selected a pink and gray color scheme that would match their decor perfectly.  Because the color scheme was preselected, I had extra time to select props that I knew they would love and that would add the perfect amount of interest to their images.

Miss Ellie was a tiny little peanut weighing in at 6 pounds and 5 ounces. She had beautiful strawberry blonde hair and porcelain skin like her mother. She did so well while I photographed her sleeping soundly… she even flashed me a couple of smiles. Those are the best! It’s always a treat when you catch a newborn smiling because you just never know when it is going to happen. Just look at that big smile on her face while she is wrapped snuggly in her mother’s arms.

I think my favorite image is the first one in this series. I just love that tie-back from  Petunia and Ivy Newborn Prop Shop and Accessories paired with the textures in the wrap and posing blanket. I love brining in various textures and layers to add dimension to my newborn portraits, while still staying true to my clean and classic photography style.

I also really love it when clients/parents bring in special props of their own.  This time, Jessica and Nick brought me an antique cradle that has been in Jessica’s family for generations.  I adore it and just how snug and peaceful baby Ellie looks in it.  That image is going to hang on the wall in my studio and no doubt in Jessica and Nick’s home as well.

Please have a look at baby Ellie’s lovely session…
